The First Annual Diane Knippers Memorial Lecture
In 1982, Diane Knippers joined the Institute on Religion & Democracy in 1982 as Director of Organization and Membership. By 1993, she ascended to President, a post Diane held until her death in 2005. During her tenure, Diane led evangelical, renewal efforts to reform the church’s social witness. She adivised the National Association of Evangelicals and American Anglican Council as a board member.
Former IRD board Chairman J. Budziszewski once described Diane as “that rare sort of disciple who served with both the diligence and energy shown by Martha, and the loving attention to her Master's every word shown by Mary”.
Time deservedly named Diane as one of America’s 25 most influential evangelicals. Even after her diagnosis with cancer maintained a full schedule almost until the end. On April 18, 2005, she went to be with the Lord whom she served so faithfully.
On October 3, we will gather to honor Diane’s service, sacrifice and leadership as the newly founded annual Memorial lecture series commemorates her legacy. IRD emeritus board member Michael Novak will deliver the inaugural speech. Please read below to see how you, too, can remember Diane’s contributions. We look forward to seeing you there!
